Why are you reading this blog? Certainly not because it's entertaining. Hmm... Maybe it's because you want to better understand the inner-workings of my strange little mind, or maybe you're just bored (probably the case). For those of you who care, here's the story of a scarring event from my childhood that might provide some insight into my feelings about roosters, sharp objects, and "Saved by the Bell":

When I was 10 years old and my family was winding down our trip to Belize for the winter, some of our local friends decided to make us a special meal. Note that this family was crazy-poor, like probably poorer than anyone in this country. But they are so awesome and so generous with the little that they do have. Anywho, the grandmother of this family told my mom that she would be fixing a special meal for our family before we left. The next day, she stopped by and asked if any of us would like to come watch as they slaughtered the rooster. (Let me interject at this point that my mom loves roosters. This bird woke her up every morning, since the family lived pretty close to us. So yeah, she was a little sad.) So, as the leader of my two younger brothers, I went and they followed. Basically, in Belize they slaughter their home-grown poultry by tying the bird's neck to a log. Then they swing away with the machete. The blood sprays like 10 feet in every direction, but the action is not over there... You've heard the phrase "running around like a chicken with its head cut off." It speaks the truth. After being beheaded, this crazy rooster decided to sprint around the yard. I don't remember any more, except running away from the spraying bird body. Lesson of the day: do not stand within 10 feet of a bird during or after its old-school-style execution. If you do, your shirt WILL be bloody.

So now you understand part of why I am such a deranged person. (Here you are supposed to say, "No Libby! You're not deranged, you're just SPECIAL." That's what my mommy says anyway.)

Right now I'm listening to the new FIF cd. Well, it's not really NEW if you bought "The End is Near" during a summer festival or their final tour. But it is really sweet, so make sure and get one for yourself!
